Music Junction 2019

It was a real privilege to be invited back to this year’s Music Junction programme, run by the London Chamber Orchestra. Participants go Inside the Orchestra, listening to the music from amongst the musicians, directing the players or playing as part of the rhythm section.

Their workshops culminate in the chance to work alongside a composer on a new commission which is performed as part of the LCO’s concert season – which is where I came in, photographing the rehearsal and performance inside the beautiful Cadogan Hall. This year some of the students even got to play the role of soloist in (Leopold Mozart’s? Haydn’s?) Toy Symphony.

It’s hard not to be envious of the students having an opportunity to play alongside such a great orchestra – it’s certainly something I never got the chance to do in my tiny village school ensemble! Read more about Music Junction on the LCO’s website.
